FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is there an age limit for students at your studio? There is not an age limit to play the piano in my studio, which is why students range in age from 4 to 70.

How long are your classes? Students begin with 45-minute lessons. Some adult students may start with 60-minute lessons. By late middle school, many school-age students have 60-minute lessons.

What kind of piano do you use to teach? Students will learn on a Kawai Grand Piano. I also have a Celviano Digital Piano that is used in private and group lessons. It is also available to siblings who are waiting for their lesson (with headphones, of course!)

What is Guild and how often is it? Guild is a program that sets definite goals for piano students of all levels and abilities. Guild auditions are held once a year in the spring at Lake Michigan College.

Is Guild participation mandatory? No, student participation is not mandatory. However, students who set goals and reach them make more progress.

How often do you have recitals? I host two recitals per year, in the fall and in the spring. The fall recital is always a themed recital.

How often do students have group lessons? Group lessons are held once monthly and replace the regular lesson. There are eight classes per academic year. This is a critical part of piano education and part of my studio program, so students should not miss group classes.

Do you offer online classes? I accept online students on a case-by-case basis. Online classes are held via Zoom.
